Canvas USA® respects intellectual property and expects the same from the people who use our website. This page explains how to tell us about material you believe infringes your copyright, and how to respond if your material was removed.
1) Where to send a copyright notice

Please put "Copyright Notice" in the subject line so it reaches the right person quickly.
2) What a notice must contain
To act on a notice we need all of the following, as set out in 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):
• Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed
• Identification of the material you say is infringing, and enough detail to let us find it — a page address is best
• Your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address
• A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf
• Your physical or electronic signature
• Identification of the material you say is infringing, and enough detail to let us find it — a page address is best
• Your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address
• A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
• A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf

A notice missing any of these may not be effective, and we may come back to you for the rest.
3) What we do with it
We review the notice and, where it appears valid, remove or disable access to the material. Where we can identify who posted it, we tell them and pass on your notice.
4) If your material was removed — counter-notice
If you believe your material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same agent. It must include your name, address, telephone number and signature; identification of the material and where it was before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your district, or for the Southern District of Texas if you are outside the United States, and to accept service from the person who sent the original notice.
5) Repeat infringers
It is our policy to disable or terminate the accounts of anyone who repeatedly infringes copyright.
6) A caution about false claims
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages and costs. If you are not certain, take advice before you send a notice.
7) Photographs you send us
