Materials & Construction
This is a water-based gel coat compound used to cut through P1000 or finer sand scratches and medium to light oxidation on fiberglass surfaces, restoring a deep, high-gloss finish in less buffing time.
Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Less time buffing. The formula is made to cut fast, so each section of hull takes less work. It is easy to use and cleans up with little fuss.
- Takes out fine scratches and haze. It removes sanding marks from P1000 or finer paper. It also works off medium to light oxidation, the dull, chalky look on older gel coat.
- A true shine, not a cover-up. The gloss comes from the cut itself, with no wax, silicone or filler to hide flaws. That gives a clean base for the wax or sealant you put on after.
- Buff it while the boat is out. Fall haul-out puts the hull within easy reach on dry land. Work the haze off over the winter and the boat looks sharp for spring launch.
What it is
Malco Gel Coat Compound is a water-based, VOC-compliant cutting compound for marine and industrial use, sold here in a 1 gallon container. It is made for restoring fiberglass gel coat surfaces.
How to use it
- Work the compound with a rotary or dual-action buffer to cut out sand scratches and oxidation.
- Keep buffing until the deep gloss comes up.
- Follow with your choice of wax or sealant.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: a rotary or dual-action buffer. Pairs well with a wax or sealant to protect the new shine.
