What it is

Presta's wool compounding pad is made from 100% twisted wool and has a heavy cut. It is 9 inches across, with a 1-1/2 inch thick wool pile, and the back is hook and loop on one side only. It is made for the compounding step, the stage before final polishing, to take sanding scratches out of gelcoat and paint, plus other polished surfaces.

How to use it

1. Fit the wool pad onto the backing plate of your buffer.
2. Put your chosen compound onto the wool face.
3. Pass the buffer over the sanded spot in overlapping passes until the scratches are cut down.
4. Switch to a finishing pad and polish for a smoother finish.
5. After each job, wipe off the compound residue and let the pad dry completely before storing it.
