What it is

Mold & Mildew Preventer is a water-based treatment from Xanigo Marine. Its formula uses a patented organosilane, a compound that forms a lasting bond with the surface you treat. It is made to prevent growth, not to lift old stains, so it goes on a surface that is already clean.

How to use it

1. If mold is already there, remove it first with a mold and mildew stain remover, then rinse with fresh water.
2. Let the surface dry all the way.
3. Mist the preventer over the dry surface.
4. Work it out evenly with a microfiber towel. Spread it, and leave it on. Do not wipe it off.
5. Plan your next coat within 90 days.

What else the job needs

Keep a few microfiber towels with it. If mold has already set in, start with a stain remover. A waterless wash between coats helps neutralize that remover and clears off sunscreen, which mold feeds on.
