Materials & Construction
Collinite 920 Fiberglass Marine Cleaner is a fast-cutting, pre-wax compound formulated to strip oxidation, discoloration, and stubborn stains from fiberglass surfaces, restoring the original color and gloss before wax application.
Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Brings back a dull, weathered look. Your hull, deck and topsides can look bright again. The product text says it brings back the original color and shine of fiberglass that has weathered.
- Lifts stains a wash cannot touch. It removes black streaks and tough stains that a regular wash will not lift, plus mild to moderate UV oxidation and chalkiness.
- Helps your next wax go on and last. It leaves a clean, smooth surface. The product text says it improves how a Collinite last-step wax bonds, spreads and holds up.
- Get the hull ready before winter storage. Fall is a good time to clean the fiberglass before winter storage, so the boat is ready for wax when spring comes.
What it is
Collinite 920 Fiberglass Marine Cleaner is a 64 oz cleaner made by Collinite for fiberglass boats. The product text calls it a pre-wax treatment, which means it prepares the surface before a wax goes on. It cuts fast and finishes with a smooth film that wipes away easily.
How to use it
- Apply to a clean, dry fiberglass surface with an applicator pad or a buffer.
- By hand: place a nickel-sized amount on an applicator pad.
- By hand: rub it in over a section no bigger than a 2x2 ft area, using firm pressure, until just before it starts to dry.
- By hand: buff off the residue with a microfiber towel.
- By machine: place 5 small pea-size dots on the buffing pad. Do not over-saturate the pad.
- By machine: set the buffer to 5800 opm (orbits per minute) and make 2-3 passes over a section no larger than 2x2 ft, using firm pressure.
- By machine: lower the speed to 4800 opm and make 2-3 more passes with less pressure.
- Buff until just before the product dries. Never dry buff.
- Wipe off the residue to reveal a clean, glossy finish, then follow with a Collinite last-step wax.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: a Collinite last-step wax, which the product text names as the wax to follow. Applicator pads, a buffer and a microfiber towel are also named in its directions.
