Why you'll want it
- Tackles tough waterline stains. The acid-based formula is aimed at tough marks, such as water rings and yellow buildup on the hull. Reach for it when the hull looks dingy.
- Foam does the hard work. Foam forms as the product works, which shows it is lifting deposits off the hull. Once the foam has worked for about 10 minutes, rinse the hull with water.
- Less scrubbing and scraping. You will do less hard scraping and scrubbing on most surfaces, so the job goes faster.
- Get the hull clean this fall. When you haul out this fall, let the hull dry first, then clean the stains off before the boat goes into storage.
What it is
Star brite Boat Bottom Cleaner is a hull cleaner made by Star brite and sold in a 32 oz size. It is an acid-based liquid that foams when it meets stains, algae or yellow buildup on the hull. It is a heavy-duty cleaner.
How to use it
- Put on gloves and eye protection before you start.
- Lift the boat out of the water and let stains and deposits dry all the way through. Marks above the waterline can be treated with the boat still in the water.
- Spread the product on the dry hull with a plastic sprayer, a roller without nylon, or a brush.
- Keep the treated spots wet and foaming. Add more as needed to keep the foam going.
- Once the foam has worked for about 10 minutes, rinse the hull with water.
- Heavy deposits may take several applications and some light scraping.
- If you use a sprayer, run fresh water through it before you store it.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: gloves, eye protection, and plastic (non-nylon) application tools, as the product description recommends. Use a plastic container when you pour the product for brushing.
