Materials & Construction
This is a heavy-duty, acid-based liquid boat bottom cleaner that foams on contact to lift tough waterline stains and algae buildup, restoring a clean hull without extensive scrubbing.
Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Lifts the tough stuff. Designed for the toughest grime, this cleaner goes after waterline stains, and also algae and yellow build-up on the hull.
- Foam does most of the work. Keep the surface foamy and the foam does much of the work. Light scraping may still be needed on heavy buildup.
- Treat stains above the waterline. You can treat stains above the waterline while the boat sits in the water, so you do not have to lift it for every spot.
- Clean the hull before winter storage. Fall haul-out is a good time for this. Once the boat is out and the hull has dried, you can clean it before winter storage.
What it is
This is the one-gallon Boat Bottom Cleaner from Star brite. It is an acid-based cleaner for a boat's hull, and it foams to lift stains and buildup. The label carries a California Proposition 65 warning.
How to use it
- Start by putting on protective gear, since the product is caustic.
- Lift the boat out of the water and let stains and deposits dry fully.
- Stains above the waterline can be treated while the boat stays in the water.
- Apply it to the dry hull with an all-plastic sprayer, a non-nylon roller or a brush.
- Keep the area wet and foamy, and add more product as the foam fades.
- After 10 minutes of foam, most of the hull should be ready to rinse with water.
- Heavy buildup may take more applications and some light scraping.
- If you use a sprayer, run fresh water through it before you store it.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: protective gear, an all-plastic sprayer, a non-nylon roller or a brush, and fresh water for rinsing the sprayer.
