Materials & Construction
This is a purple foamed lambswool buffing and polishing pad built with a nanofoam process that encapsulates the wool fibers, so it holds abrasive product on the surface while cutting P1500 grit scratches. The result is a swirl- and hologram-reduced, high-gloss finish with the cushioned feel of a foam pad.
Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Evens out P1500 sanding marks. The pad is built to cut through the fine scratches left by P1500 sandpaper, and it leaves a finish like a foam pad would.
- Less haze and swirl marks. The foam-based build is meant to cut down on holograms and compounding swirls, so your final surface looks cleaner.
- Soft, cushioned working feel. The purple lambswool has a padded feel while you compound and polish. Its foam treatment helps it hold abrasive on the surface.
- Get the work done before winter. Fall is a good time to level scratches, so the boat is ready when it comes out of winter storage.
What it is
This is a Lake Country purple foamed wool buffing and polishing pad, 7.5 inch across and 1 inch thick. It has a center hole for mounting to a backing plate. Through a nanofoam process, microscopic polyfoam particles are set into the lower part of the lambswool fibers.
How to use it
- Mount the pad on a backing plate using its center hole, making sure the plate is compatible.
- Put your compound or polish onto the face of the pad.
- Keep your passes overlapping and at a moderate speed. Aim to smooth the scratches and restore shine.
- Brush or spur the wool as you go to lift product that has built up, and let the pad dry completely before the next session.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: a rotary or dual-action polisher, a compatible backing plate, a compound or polish of your choice, and a brush or spur for cleaning. No additional items are specified in the product description.
