Why you'll want it
- Clears gray weathering and fuel stains. Teak can come back looking fresh with this. Rust, fish blood, fuel stains and gray weathering are among the things it is meant to take off.
- No sanding, and light scrubbing only. The formula is designed to give the look of sanding. You skip the sanding, and the directions still call for light scrubbing.
- Gentle on deck seams. It is designed not to damage deck seams, and it does not soften them while it works on the surface.
- Fall is a good time to do this. Fall is a good time to restore teak before winter. Doing it now means the deck is ready when the boat comes back out in spring.
What it is
Snappy Teak-Nu Formula No. 2 is a wood renew and restore treatment from the maker Snappy Teak-Nu. It comes in a 1-gallon size. It is meant for teak and fine wood that has turned gray or picked up dirt and fuel stains. It is the second step of a 2-step system.
How to use it
- Wear protective gloves.
- For badly soiled, oiled, or coated teak, start with Formula No. 1 on a wet deck. Brush it on with a medium bristle brush and work it across the whole area.
- Wait until the treated spot turns an even dark brown, then scrub lightly with a coarse brush.
- Next, spread Formula No. 2 across the deck and scrub lightly to lift dirt.
- When you finish, rinse the brushes well.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: Formula No. 1, which the directions say must be used with Formula No. 2. Protective gloves, as the directions advise. The record says bristle brushes are included.
