Materials & Construction
This rubberized undercoating is a single-component, textured aerosol coating formulated to dampen sound and protect metal surfaces from rust, corrosion, and chipping.
Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Quiets road noise and vibration. The sound-dampening coating reduces road noise and vibration. It is made for the undercarriage of vehicles and trailers.
- Resists chips from rocks and debris. The textured finish resists chipping from rocks and road debris, so the metal underneath stays covered.
- Guards metal against rust and corrosion. The record says it protects metal surfaces from rust and corrosion, and the product is built for that job.
- Good timing for fall work. Fall is a good time to coat a trailer's undercarriage before winter storage, so the metal is protected before cold weather.
What it is
SEM Rubberized Undercoating is a black coating made by SEM and sold in a 24oz aerosol can. It is single-component, so no mixing is needed before use. It is paintable, so you can topcoat it once it has dried.
How to use it
- Prep and prime the surface first. The coating is made for properly prepped and primed surfaces.
- Hold the can 6 to 8 inches from the surface.
- Apply 2 to 3 medium wet coats.
- Allow a flash time of 3 to 5 minutes.
- Use the straw included with the aerosol to reach tight spots.
- Allow 30 minutes of top coat time before painting over it.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: primer for prepping the surface and a topcoat paint if you want to paint over the finish.
