Why you'll want it

• Brighten teak without sanding. DiTEC says this gel gives teak a brighter look and can return decks and wood furniture to their natural shade. You skip the sanding.

What it is

DiTEC Teak Magic Part 1 is a 32oz gel cleaner, made by DiTEC Marine Products, meant for teak decks and wooden furniture. It is the first of two steps in DiTEC's teak system. The concentrate is mixed 1 part to 4 parts fresh water.

How to use it

1. If the teak carries polyurethane or a coating applied at the factory, sand that off first, as the record requires.
2. Mix 1 part Teak Magic to 4 parts fresh water in a bucket, a 1:4 ratio.
3. Work the mix across the wood with a foam brush, a deck brush or a polypropylene scrub pad, covering every part.
4. Finish by rinsing the wood well with fresh water, which the record says removes the residue.
