Materials & Construction
Gtechniq Multi-Stage Polish is a nanoscale alpha alumina polish that reflows gelcoat and topcoat surfaces to remove imperfections, delivering a refined finish with far less surface damage than traditional cutting compounds.
Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Gentler on your gelcoat. Nanoscale alpha alumina particles reflow the surface instead of cutting it, so your boat sees less harm to its gelcoat or topcoat than with older-style polishes.
- Fewer compounds to work through. You can clear up surface flaws without a stack of compounds. The surface is left without buffer trails.
- Get it done before winter. October is a good time to polish before haul-out or winter storage, so the finish is ready when the season starts again.
What it is
Gtechniq Marine Multi-Stage Polish is a 500ml bottle from Gtechniq Marine. Its nanoscale alpha alumina particles work to smooth the finish and lift away imperfections without heavy cutting. It works on gelcoat and topcoat finishes.
How to use it
- On a heavily oxidised surface, start with the Gtechniq Hotswap Cutting Pad on a rotary polisher.
- On less oxidised surfaces, use the Gtechniq Hotswap Medium pad, then the Hotswap Finishing Pad, both on a rotary polisher.
- Buff the surface using a Gtechniq MF1 Microfiber until it is streak-free.
- If the polish is hard to remove, wipe with a damp MF1 Microfiber, then finish with a dry one.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: Gtechniq Hotswap pads, a rotary polisher, and Gtechniq MF1 Microfiber, as the steps above call for them.
