Materials & Construction
Gtechniq Multi-Stage Polish is a nanoscale alpha alumina polish that reflows the gelcoat or topcoat surface instead of cutting it, removing defects while minimizing damage to the finish.
Product Description
Why you'll want it
- A high-gloss shine with no trails. The polish works toward a flawless, high-gloss finish, and your boat is left without buffer marks.
- Gentler on your gelcoat and topcoat. Its nanoscale alpha alumina particles reflow the surface, so the finish takes less harm than it would from cutting polishes.
- Fewer compounds to remove defects. Surface defects can be removed without a heavy load of compounds.
- A good time to polish is fall. Fall is a good time to polish before the cold months set in, so the work is done ahead of winter.
What it is
This marine-grade polish from Gtechniq Marine comes in a 5L size. Its nanoscale alpha alumina particles reflow the surface instead of grinding it down. It is made for gelcoat and topcoat finishes.
How to use it
- For heavily oxidised areas, begin with a Gtechniq Hotswap Cutting Pad on a rotary polisher.
- On less oxidised areas, use the Gtechniq Hotswap Medium pad. Switch to the HotSwap Finishing Pad on a rotary polisher to finish.
- Then use a Gtechniq MF1 Microfiber to buff until no streaks remain.
- If the polish is tough to take off, wipe with a damp MF1 Microfiber, then finish with a dry one.
What else the job needs
The steps use Gtechniq Hotswap pads, a rotary polisher and Gtechniq MF1 Microfiber. Good to have on hand: those pads and microfiber cloths.
