    This is a heavy cut, 100% twisted wool buffing pad built to quickly strip sanding scratches from painted surfaces, leaving a smooth base ready for the next finishing step.

    Why you'll want it

    • Cuts out sanding scratches. This heavy cut pad is made to remove sanding scratches from every grit. That is the hard part of bringing back a finish.
    • The backing plate stays off the work. A recessed cup is built into the pad. It keeps the backing plate from touching the surface you are buffing.
    • Thick twisted wool, 12 to a case. The pile is 100% twisted wool, 1-1/2 inches thick, on a 9 inch pad. With 12 in the case, a fresh pad is close at hand.
    • Winter work, spring shine. Winter storage is a good time to sand and compound. Do the cutting now and the boat is ready to shine at spring launch.

    What it is

    This is a heavy cut wool compounding pad made by Presta, in black and white, sold in a case of 12. Compounding is the step after sanding, where a cutting pad and compound take out the scratches. The pad has hook and loop on one side for quick changes on a hook and loop backing plate.

    What else the job needs

    Good to have on hand: a buffer that takes a hook and loop backing plate, and a cutting compound. The final finishing stage comes after this pad.
