Why you'll want it
- Brings back weathered, gray teak. The cleaner removes old oils, stains and discoloration. It is made to restore a natural wood tone to teak that has gone gray.
- Skip sanding before you oil. The cleaner prepares wood for oiling, so you do not have to sand first.
- Made to spare nearby fiberglass and paint. The label says the cleaner is made not to harm the fiberglass or painted surfaces around the teak. Rinse any spills right away from surfaces you are not treating.
- Clean teak this fall, before winter. Fall is a good time to clean weathered teak before the boat or furniture is put away for the cold months. The cleaned wood is then ready for oil.
What it is
Star brite Premium Outdoor Teak Cleaner, Step 1, is a 16 oz teak cleaner made by Star brite. It is the first product in a teak cleaning process, and it is made to clean and prepare weathered teak before oiling. It works on outdoor and indoor teak furniture, boat decks and other fine woods.
How to use it
- For badly weathered teak, apply the cleaner to dry wood.
- Spread it with a stiff-bristle cleaning brush or a Star brite Medium Scrub Pad.
- Let it stay on the surface for about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Scrub in the direction of the wood grain, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
- For lightly stained teak, wet the wood with fresh water first, then apply the cleaner, spread it with a brush or pad, scrub lightly and rinse thoroughly.
- Rinse spills and drips right away from surfaces not being treated, and keep the cleaner off fabrics.
