Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Gloss that lasts longer. It is made to keep the shine on your hull and topsides for a longer time, so your boat looks cared for between jobs.
- Less swirling from washing. It is designed to reduce the swirls and light scratches that can come from washing your boat.
- Sun help for your finish. It gives UV protection to help guard your gelcoat against fading in the sun.
- Do it this fall, ready by spring. Fall is a good time to coat your boat. Apply it before winter storage so the finish is ready when the boating season comes back.
What it is
Gtechniq Ceramic Base is a 50ml ceramic coating from Gtechniq Marine for boat gelcoat. It is a liquid that cures into an extremely hard, durable protective layer bonded directly to the gelcoat. It is formulated for hulls and topsides.
How to use it
- If you apply it directly to the gelcoat or topcoat, polish the surface first to remove any imperfections.
- Clean the surface well with a Gtechniq Panel Wipe and a Gtechniq MF1 Microfiber to remove all polish residue. The directions say it is meant for clean surfaces.
- Soak the application pad with the product.
- Spread it over an area no more than 2 feet by 2 feet, then remove the residue with a microfiber cloth.
- The amount you need varies with factors such as the surface of your gelcoat or topcoat. The record range is 5.5 to 7 ml per square meter, or 0.5 to 0.7 ml per square foot.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: a panel wipe and microfiber cloths, the kinds the directions name, plus a polish to smooth the surface before you coat it.
