Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Dust comes off the disc. A stearate layer on the disc is there to help dust come off. The record says this improves dust extraction and limits clogging.
- Made for dry sanding. The discs are made for dry use. They work on paint, putty, primer, gelcoat, wood and composite materials.
- Keeps cutting after long use. The record says the abrasive is made to keep its cutting performance after prolonged use, with a polyester (PET) film backing.
- Ready for fall boat prep. Fall is a common time to plan haul-out and winter storage. These discs suit the paint, primer and gelcoat sanding a boat may need before spring.
What it is
These are RUPES PROCUT film abrasive discs, 150mm (6 inch) across, with 15 holes and P120 grit. Each box holds 50 discs. The discs have ceramic abrasive grains on a polyester (PET) film backing, and RUPES makes them.
How to use it
- Start with the least aggressive grit that does the job. Lower grit numbers are coarser and remove material faster.
- Step through progressively finer grits. The record says skipping stages leaves scratches the next step cannot remove.
- Use the discs dry, since the product is made for dry applications.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: other grits from the same RUPES line, such as finer grits for finishing. These are listed as separate product options.
