Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Discs that resist clogging. A stearate layer helps pull dust away from the disc. It also limits clogging, which helps the disc last longer.
- Made for dry sanding. The discs are ideal for dry use. They work on paint, putty, primer and gelcoat, plus wood and composite materials.
- Fine finish for final prep. P2000 is a fine grit. Higher grit numbers are finer for finishing, and the discs leave a uniform scratch pattern.
- Fall haul-out prep. The fall haul-out is a good time to sand gelcoat and paint. Doing the work over the winter means the boat is ready in spring.
What it is
These are RUPES PROCUT Film Abrasive Discs, 150mm (6-inch) sanding discs with 15 holes. Each disc is P2000 grit, and a box holds 50 discs. The discs have a tough polyester (PET) film backing, which is a plastic film used as the base of the disc.
How to use it
- Start with the least aggressive grit that does the job.
- Step through progressively finer grits, one stage at a time.
- Do not skip stages, because skipped stages leave scratches the next step cannot remove.
- Use the discs dry. The product text describes dry use.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: other grits from the same RUPES line, for stepping through the stages before a fine finish.
