Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Strips old paint and shapes putty. The record names removing old paint, shaping putty and preparing primer surfaces as jobs these discs suit well.
- Bends around curves and uneven spots. The paper backing is reinforced with chemical fiber, which the record says gives flexibility on contoured or uneven surfaces.
- Less clogging while you sand. The stearate layer helps dust come off the disc and reduces clogging, according to the record.
- Fall work now, ready for spring. In fall, with the boat out of the water, you can strip old paint and shape putty now so the work is done before spring.
What it is
RUPES MULTIPURPOSE paper abrasive discs are 150 mm (6 inch) sanding discs with 15 holes, in P80 grit, sold in a box of 50. RUPES is the maker. The paper backing is latex-reinforced with chemical fibers, and a stearate coating is added to the abrasive surface.
How to use it
- Start with the least aggressive grit that does the job.
- Step through finer grits in turn. The record says skipping a stage leaves scratches the next stage cannot remove.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: discs in the other grits this series comes in, for the finer sanding steps that follow.
