Product Description
Why you'll want it
- Strips old paint and preps primer. Made for removing old paint, shaping putty and preparing primer surfaces. The record also lists gelcoat, wood and composite materials.
- Bends around curved and uneven parts. The paper backing is reinforced with latex and chemical fiber. It bends to fit contoured parts and resists tearing.
- Less clogging, more dust pulled away. A stearate coating is meant to cut down on clogging and help dust come off the disc.
- Fall and winter paint work. Fall and winter are good months for paint and putty work, so the boat can be ready in spring. The box holds 100 discs.
What it is
RUPES MULTIPURPOSE Paper Abrasive Discs are sanding discs made by RUPES. They are 150mm (6 inch) with 15 holes and P320 grit, sold as a box of 100. Grit is how coarse the sanding surface is; lower numbers are coarser and higher numbers are finer for finishing.
How to use it
- Start with the least aggressive grit that does the job.
- Step up through progressively finer grits in stages.
- Skipping stages leaves scratches the next step can't remove.
- Before a high-gloss topcoat, finish-sand primer around 320 to 400 grit, and follow the topcoat's technical data sheet.
What else the job needs
Good to have on hand: the topcoat's technical data sheet, for its recommended surface profile. Pairs well with other RUPES grits, including P400, P220, P180, P120, P80 and P40.
